- Western Pennsylvania Political Director

inequality that holds back working families. One Pennsylvania is seeking a Western Pennsylvania Political Director to help lead our legislative campaigns at the state and local level and build power in the region.
Summary:
The Western Pennsylvania Political is a full time, permanent position starting as soon as possible. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic blend of strategist, communicator, and organizer, with experience in community and/or labor organizing, legislative campaigns, and narrative work. This position reports to the Power Building Director and collaborates closely with political and issue-based organizers.
Qualification:
Commitment to and understanding of progressive organizing
Experience in campaign development and implementation
Experience utilizing, maintaining and teaching various databases, VAN preferred.
Experience in grassroots lobbying
Experience that demonstrates the ability to empathize with and move people to take action
Experience or willingness to work in a fast-paced, quickly changing campaign environment
Strong working knowledge of city and county legislative processes;
Experience in community, labor or electoral organizing preferably in Allegheny County
Demonstrated ability to write and implement all elements of campaign plans;
A track record of being detail-oriented with good organizational skills and follow-through,
including the quantitative tracking of campaign metrics and progress to goals;
Full-time work including evenings and weekends as needed

Conditions: Owning and operating a car is required, and willingness to travel and the ability to
Competing to navigate the city is required. Occasional opportunities to travel across the state or country for training or with members can be reasonably expected. One Pennsylvania provides mileage reimbursement at the Federal rate, per diem, and lodging when working away from home. Ability to work hours exceeding stated office hours to complete the job; ability and
willingness to work evenings and weekends when necessary.

Requirements
Endorsement Process Management: Lead and coordinate One PA’s endorsement process, ensuring members drive candidate interviews and question development. Support members in evaluating candidates and making informed decisions.
Grassroots Lobbying & Advocacy: Train and mobilize members to engage in direct meetings with elected officials, legislative hearings, and advocacy campaigns, building their capacity to lead and influence policy.
Political Strategy & Legislative Advocacy: Lead One PA’s legislative priorities in Western Pennsylvania, focusing on housing, environmental justice, and democracy. Collaborate with neighborhood chapters and member leaders to co-create and execute legislative and electoral strategies.
Legislative Program Coordination: Support members in leading grassroots efforts during key legislative processes, including annual budget cycles at state and local levels, ensuring community-driven priorities are centered.
Communications & Narrative Work: Collaborate with organizing staff to craft messaging that amplifies campaign goals and member stories. Train members to represent One PA in public forums, media interviews, and coalition spaces.
Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain relationships with elected officials, coalition partners, and community stakeholders. Regularly attend and contribute to the campaign and issue-focused tables.
Organizational Coordination: Work alongside Western PA organizers to align political, legislative, and communications strategies with broader organizational goals.
Focus on One PA’s Allegheny County legislative priorities around housing, environmental justice and democracy.
