- Deputy Chief Probation Officer
Description
The Deputy Chief Probation Officer serves as the second-in-command of the Adult Probation and Parole Department. Responsibilities include monitoring and directing officers’ field and office activities, advancing public safety through evidence-based supervision and enforcement practices, and providing oversight of strategic initiatives, policy development, staff training, grant administration, and compliance efforts. The Deputy Chief works closely with the judiciary, treatment providers, and community partners to promote accountability, reduce recidivism, and improve outcomes for individuals under county probation or parole supervision. The position requires strong leadership skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to professionalism, accountability, and organizational excellence. The Deputy Chief exercises considerable independent judgment and discretion in directing assigned operations and ensuring the successful implementation of departmental goals, priorities, and initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Behavioral Sciences, or a related field.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Eight (8) years of experience in a senior management, executive, or director-level role in probation, parole, pretrial services, behavioral health services, corrections, law enforcement, criminal justice, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience managing personnel, programs, budgets, and organizational initiatives.
- Successful completion of interview process.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Satisfactory clearance of a criminal background investigation.
- Must work in-person (not remote)
