Description

The Clinician is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, treating, and managing a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions while providing comprehensive, evidence-based primary and sexual healthcare. This role delivers patient-centered, trauma-informed care focused on disease prevention, HIV prevention and treatment, STI management, gender-affirming care, and improving health outcomes for historically underserved populations. The Clinician collaborates with an interdisciplinary care team to provide high-quality, culturally responsive healthcare in accordance with organizational policies and evidence-based practice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Obtain and document comprehensive medical, sexual, and social histories.
• Perform comprehensive physical examinations and patient assessments.
• Assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions within the scope of licensure.
• Order, interpret, and review laboratory tests, diagnostic imaging, and other diagnostic studies.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized, evidence-based treatment plans.
• Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions, including controlled substances, in accordance with applicable state laws and organizational policies.
• Diagnose and treat sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including testing, treatment, counseling, partner notification/services, and follow-up care.
• Provide HIV prevention services, including HIV risk assessments, prescribing and managing Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP), patient education, and ongoing monitoring.
• Manage the care of patients living with HIV, including antiretroviral therapy (ART), laboratory monitoring, medication adherence counseling, and coordination of specialty care.
• Address patient concerns and answer questions regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and overall health and wellness.
• Educate patients on preventive healthcare, sexual health, disease prevention, nutrition, hygiene, medication adherence, and healthy lifestyle practices.
• Document patient encounters accurately and timely within the organization's Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
• Coordinate care with nurses, medical assistants, behavioral health providers, specialists, pharmacists, case managers, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Provide compassionate, culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and gender-affirming care to LGBTQ+, transgender, nonbinary, gender-diverse, and historically underserved populations.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and organizational performance improvement activities.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA, organizational policies, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Experience providing patient-centered and trauma-informed care.
• Knowledge of primary care, sexual health, HIV prevention and treatment, PrEP/PEP management, and sexually transmitted infection diagnosis and treatment.

• Technical proficiency with standard medical and office equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience providing HIV care, HIV prevention services, STI treatment, and gender-affirming healthcare.
• American Academy of HIV Medicine Specialist (AAHIVS) certification or willingness to obtain certification within an agreed-upon timeframe following hire.
• Experience performing High Resolution Anoscopy (HRA) or willingness to complete specialized training.

Requirements

Applicants must possess one of the following:

Physician

• Medical degree from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of an accredited residency program.
• Current board certification or board eligibility in an appropriate specialty.
• Active, unrestricted physician license in the applicable state of practice.

OR

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) / Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP)

• Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Current national Nurse Practitioner certification in an appropriate specialty.
• Active, unrestricted APRN/CRNP license with prescriptive authority in the applicable state of practice.

Required for All Clinicians:

• Current DEA registration.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification.
• Successful completion of all required criminal background investigations, including FBI, Child Abuse, and any additional organizational clearances.
