Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced SAP Business Warehouse (BW) Developer to design, build, and maintain robust data models and reporting solutions. This role involves working closely with business stakeholders to deliver high-quality analytics, integrating SAP BW with modern data platforms, and ensuring system performance and data integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain a suite of robust data models and custom extractors to support enterprise reporting and analytics.
- Build and optimize BEx queries and workbooks, applying advanced performance tuning techniques, variable logic, and intuitive layouts to deliver scalable, actionable insights.
- Administer and enhance BW system operations, including process chains, data loads, and system jobs. Perform proactive maintenance, troubleshoot complex performance issues, and collaborate with Basis teams on upgrades and patches.
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions, working closely with functional teams to design and implement scalable BW architectures and deliver ongoing enhancements.
- Integrate BW with modern BI and cloud platforms, leveraging OData services, Open Hub, and advanced data export strategies to enable hybrid architectures and data lake initiatives.
- Implement robust data quality and governance controls, including validation rules, lineage tracking, and metadata management, ensuring compliance and consistency across reporting environments.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in SAP Business Warehouse (BW) with extensive hands-on experience in data modeling using InfoObjects, DSOs, Cubes, and MultiProviders.
- Skilled in designing and implementing ETL processes using SAP BW tools such as Process Chains for efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading.
- Experienced in developing and optimizing BEx queries and workbooks to support dynamic reporting and analytics needs.
- Strong understanding of BW performance tuning techniques, including query optimization, data compression, and partitioning strategies.
- Strong proficiency in SAP ABAP programming, with experience building and enhancing custom extractors, user exits, and transformation routines within the SAP BW environment.
- Capable of integrating SAP BW with other SAP platforms (e.g., ECC, CRM, S/4HANA) and external data sources to support enterprise-wide reporting.
- Knowledgeable in BW authorization concepts and security setup to ensure compliant data access and governance.
Years of Experience Breakout:
- BW Developer: 3-4 years of experience in SAP BW Development
- Senior BW Developer: 5-6 years of experience in SAP BW Development
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in information science, Computer Science, Data Science or related discipline.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA, CDS Views, and SAP BTP.
- Familiarity with SAP Datasphere and SAP Analytics Cloud.
- SQL proficiency and experience with cloud data platforms like Snowflake.
- Exposure to Agile and DevOps practices.
- Master's degree in information science, Computer Science, Data Science or related discipline.
