The position is renewable for up to three years. We invite candidates whose work advances understandings of communication in ways that engage pressing social, organizational, cultural, or civic issues, broadly construed, including (but not limited to) questions of equity, justice, and commuity impact.The position is designed to foster the professional development of recent PhDs—teacher-scholars whose work examines how communication shapes and is shaped by social life—whether through critical, cultural, rhetorical, social-scientific, or mixed-methods traditions. The position is intended to prepare postdoctoral fellows on their journey to full-time faculty positions in the discipline; as such, successful candidates will gain teaching experience as well as support and mentorship from Communication faculty. We especially welcome scholarship that engages issues such as race, gender, sexuality, ability, transnationalism, and other components of identity and/or other significant areas of communication research (e.g., health, organizational, media, performance, interpersonal/intercultural, political, or civic communication). We welcome a range of methodological approaches.

The University is an equal opportunity employer and seeks candidates who understand, respect and can contribute to the University's mission and values.Duties and Responsibilities:Position Details: Our new colleague will teach core undergraduate courses in communication theory in addition to elective courses (existing or new) that complement their area(s) of research specialization. The position involves a 3-3 teaching load and limited service responsibilities that benefit the candidate's professional development.
With one of the largest undergraduate majors in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, the Department of Communication offers course work leading to the B.A. in Communication with opportunities to specialize in eight different areas of the discipline. In addition, the Department supports both a Master's and graduate certificate programs in Communication. Our faculty prides itself on excellence in teaching and research and seeks applicants who can help cultivate a supportive, collegial work environment.Minimum Qualifications:Basic requirements: Ph.D. in Communication (ABD considered, with degree in hand by August 2026). Some college-level teaching is required. We seek candidates who will contribute to and complement the Department's existing degree programs and concentrations.Preferred Qualifications:
