Chief Medical Officer - Behavioral Health

We are excited to partner with Geisinger to recruit a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for its Behavioral Health Hospital in Northeast Pennsylvania. This is a key physician leadership role with significant impact across Luzerne and Lackawanna/Wyoming Counties.

Position Overview

The Chief Medical Officer will provide clinical and strategic leadership for the psychiatric service line, overseeing a multidisciplinary team of physician providers and advanced practice clinicians. This leader will be instrumental in supporting psychiatry team members, advancing models of care, and sustaining service excellence across the region.

Facility & Program Highlights
• 92-bed behavioral health hospital
• Average Daily Census: 80-84 patients
• Comprehensive services, including intensive outpatient programs
• Medical staff oversight: 7 physician providers plus a team of APPs
• Psychiatry residency program:
o 3 residents per year, with planned growth to 5 residents annually

Required Qualifications
• MD or DO with completed residency in Psychiatry
• Active Board Certification
• Eligible for or able to obtain Pennsylvania medical license and DEA
• Minimum 7 years of post-residency/fellowship clinical experience
• Current or prior leadership experience in an outpatient or health system setting
• Willingness to actively practice clinically as part of the role
