The Area Coordinator for Residence Management is responsible for the administration and supervision of the residence halls, paraprofessional staff and students residing within their assigned area of the campus. As a member of the department's professional staff, the Area Coordinator also shares responsibilities for staff training, selection and evaluation; hall programming; judicial affairs; hall operations; and weeknight and weekend on-call responsibilities. 12-month on-campus residency is required (furnished one-bedroom apartment, utilities, TV and internet access included). | Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours: | The Residence Life Professional Staff interacts extensively with students and student paraprofessional staff. Consequently, it is common for meetings and events to be scheduled beyond traditional work hours. A member of the Residence Life Professional Staff should anticipate the need to work into evenings and on weekends, as necessary, throughout the academic year, particularly during staff training periods and in conjunction with opening and the closing of the residence halls. Additionally, members of the Residence Life Professional Staff may be asked to work beyond traditional work hours to manage crisis and/or emergency situations. The Residence Life Office is a high-traffic and busy work environment with multiple peak periods of work activity across the calendar year. Interruptions of work tasks to attend to phone or walk-in inquiries are the norm. Customers, who include resident students and their parents, call frequently with problems, complaints and concerns that must be addressed with courtesy and accuracy. |
